What is this medication and what does it treat?

Regaine for Women is a medicine used to treat common female pattern hair loss in women aged 18–65 years.It helps to prevent further hair loss and encourage hair regrowth.

The active ingredient is minoxidil, which is thought to work by improving blood flow to the hair follicles on your scalp.

Who is this medication suitable for?

Regaine for Women is suitable for women. especially those with general thinning on the scalp rather than large or long-standing bald areas.

You may choose to use this product if you experience the following:

  • Gradual thinning of hair on the top of the scalp
  • A widening parting
  • Reduced hair volume or fullness over time
  • More hair than usual seen in the shower, on your brush, or on your pillow
  • Hair that looks finer or weaker than before
  • Overall decrease in density, especially around the crown

You should not use Regaine if you are allergic to minoxidil (the active ingredient).

How to use Regaine for women

Always use Regaine exactly as explained in the instructions.

  • Make sure your hair and scalp are completely dry before applying the foam.
  • Apply half a capful once a day to the area of the scalp where your hair is thinning.
  • Gently massage the foam into the scalp with your fingertips.
  • Wash your hands immediately after applying.
  • Allow the foam to dry fully before using styling products, going to bed, or wearing hats.
  • Use it every day to maintain results stopping treatment may cause hair loss to return.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them

Some users may experience the following:

  • Scalp irritation (redness, dryness, itching, or flaking)
  • Headache
  • Unwanted facial hair growth (usually if the product drips down the face)
  • Temporary increase in hair shedding in the first 2–6 weeks (this is usually a sign the treatment is working)

If you notice any of these, stop using Regaine and speak to your doctor.

In rare cases, you could experience an allergic reaction to Regaine.

Signs of an allergic reaction:

  • Burning or stinging sensation after applying the foam
  • Swelling of the face, lips, eyes, hands, or throat
  • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Sudden dizziness or feeling faint
