How to Use?

RT-PCR Test Booking Process In Simple Steps:

Product Information:

A PCR Test detects the virus's genetic material in your body. This test diagnoses the active coronavirus infection. By detecting the presence of viral RNA, the test can tell well in advance whether the person has contracted the virus or not. It is also an essential tool for variant surveillance. It is carried out by studying a nasal and throat swab sample.

Our pioneering test for COVID-19 utilises PCR (polymerase chain reaction) to accurately and reliably diagnose COVID-19, thus facilitating appropriate containment and reducing further spread of the virus.

What is a Day 2 for non-red listed countries RT-PCR Test?

IQ Doctor and our collaborating labs are approved providers of the Day 2 testing for non-red listed countries as part of the International Travel Scheme.

Under this scheme, all international arrivals from non-red listed countries or territories are required to take a test on or before day 2 of arrival for effective variant surveillance.

A free copy of your results are included in this kit, which states your details, date of arrival in England, and test results, among other information. Once you have tested negative on Day 2 there will be no need to quarantine. You must follow these rules even if you have been double vaccinated.

FAQ

Where does your fulfillment take place?
All orders are fulfilled by our designated Covid 19 testing team from our local fulfillment centre in Birmingham. To meet the demand of the epidemic  and to ensure that staff and procedures remain safe we have had to separate this from the day-to-day running of our pharmacy. This ensures that all COVID orders can be prioritised by our dedicated team members ensuring you get your order on time.

How does it work?
PCR is short for “polymerase chain reaction”; it is a well-established technique and has a high level of accuracy if performed by a trained laboratory professional. In simple terms, the process of PCR is to gather small trace amounts of DNA and replicate them. Researchers studying the Novel COVID-19 virus have extracted hundreds of different genome sequences that help identify the presence of COVID-19. The COVID-19 virus has RNA as its genetic material rather than DNA. A method called “reverse transcription” (RT) is used to convert the RNA into its complementary DNA which can then be replicated. This is why the PCR test should strictly be called the RT-PCR test. Once the sample is taken, the Lab will remove all unnecessary components, stripping the sample down to the essential genetic material. Once the RT-PCR process has been completed, due to the replication process, it will be easy to ascertain the presence or absence of COVID-19.

When should I book this test?
You should book your test before you travel to England. You will then need to complete a passenger locator form. A Passenger Locator Reference Code will be provided to you at the point of collection. You will need to book an individual test for each person. Please note that every order comes with a single Passenger Locator Reference Code so make sure to order the test kits separately for every individual.

What are the Non-red listed countries or territories?
As of the 4th of October 2021 the traffic light system was replaced with "red list" and "non-red list" countries. Non-red listed countries would have previously fallen under the category of green and amber listed countries. However currently with the advent of new variants such as the Omnicron the goverment has updated a list of red countries that are at high risk for spreading the COVID variant and which require stringent testing criteria. All other countries out side of the red list are therefore categorised as non-red listed and are subject to Day 2 PCR testing only. The red list is constantly evolving and certain countries/ territories may be added or omitted to the red list by the UK government at any time so be sure to check on the gov.uk website for the most up to date guidance.

Where will the test be carried out?
The PCR Test will be carried out on site in our dedicated COVID testing room away from the public. All customers are expected to carry out self swabbing or to be accompanied by someone who will do this for them. Customers using the click and collect service will need to facilitate the delivery of their test kit to the lab themselves.

Does this test involve a nose and throat swab?
Yes. This test requires both a throat and nose swab.

How long does it take to get results?
The lab takes up to 48 hours to process the results after receiving the sample at the lab. Other time restraints should be factored in as well. It will then take one working day to deliver your sample to the lab if you decide to use standard next working day delivery. Please accommodate delays around the Christmas period and other holidays. We advise all our customers to ensure their plans are based around the maximum turnaround time to avoid any logistical delays and that you are compliant with government guidance for when tests need to be taken. We can not be held liable for any delays caused by the courier services.

How do I take the test once I receive it?
Every test kit comes with an instruction leaflet which will clearly guide you through the process. Taking the test is a really simple and straightforward process however you must ensure that you follow the instructions carefully. If you are unsure of how to test yourself please contact our customer service team for more information.

What does a positive result mean?
A positive result would indicate that you are currently infected with SARS-CoV-2 and are potentially infectious. You will need to isolate/ quarantine yourself according to government and NHS guidelines.

Will this test tell me if I have previously had COVID-19?
No, this test is a PCR test, and as a result, it will only indicate current infections. To ascertain past infections of previous exposure, you can try our antibody test.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause illness. There are several types, such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The most recently discovered Coronavirus variant is COVID-19, an infectious disease causing a global outbreak.

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, dry cough, and tiredness. Other symptoms have also been reported, such as aches and pains, nasal congestion, sore throat, diarrhoea, and headache. Others carry the virus but do not realise that they do as they have no symptoms. This is worrying as it could be passed on to others, especially the elderly and the vulnerable, without that person's knowledge.

COVID-19 symptoms can take up to 2 weeks to manifest in infected patients, so it is crucial to provide a quick and accurate way to provide testing for those who have come into contact with the virus. National advice is to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary and self isolate if you or a family member show viral symptoms. This makes it increasingly difficult to test yourself without putting frontline health workers at risk.

Due to infection concerns, the NHS is organising testing for the general public. iQ Doctor is now offering click and collect Coronavirus (COVID-19) Testing Kits which provide a simple self-testing solution.

By getting your kit from iQ Doctor, you will have access to a dedicated team of healthcare professionals able to provide you with advice and assistance throughout the entire process.

Our lab will process your sample and provide us with the results within 48 hours of receiving the sample based on current turnaround times. Your results will be available on your portal where you will be able to view and print them. In coordination with the NHS, any Positive COVID-19 results will be shared with Public Health England to trace the infection source.

If you test positive, we will advise you what to do next and how to engage with the NHS.

We work with a world-leading UKAS approved British laboratory to process your results.

As the coronavirus epidemic continues to affect our daily lives, many countries have made tentative steps to reopen their borders to the world for essential travel. The new Day 2 non-red listed package ensures that variants of Covid can be caught and stopped in their tracks.

It is essential that every person follows government guidelines to ensure the safety of all people involved and failure to do so can hold serious consequences. For more information regarding the battle against Covid 19 please visit gov.uk website for up to date guidance and advice.
