What is Difflam Throat & Mouth Spray?

Difflam Throat & Mouth Spray contains benzydamine hydrochloride, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (NSAID). It works by relieving pain and reducing inflammation in the mouth and throat.

It can be used for:

  • Mouth ulcers
  • Sore throat
  • Pain in the tongue or gums
  • Discomfort from dentures or dental work

Who is it suitable for?

Suitable for:

  • Adults
  • Children aged 6 years and over

Not recommended for:

  • People allergic to benzydamine or other NSAIDs
  • Children under 6 years
  • People with severe kidney, liver, or heart problems without medical advice
  • Those with mouth infections or open wounds that require medical attention

If symptoms are severe, persistent, or accompanied by fever, seek medical advice.

Who should not use it / Warnings

Do not use if:

  • You are allergic to benzydamine or any ingredients
  • You have previously reacted to similar anti-inflammatory medicines

Speak to a pharmacist or doctor before use if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Symptoms last more than a few days
  • You experience worsening pain or swelling

Do not exceed the recommended dose.

How to use

Adults

  • 4 to 8 puffs every 1 to 3 hours as needed

Children aged 6 to 12 years

  • 4 puffs every 1 to 3 hours

How to apply

  • Shake the bottle gently and remove the cap.
  • Raise the spray tube into position.
  • Aim directly at the sore area in your mouth or throat.
  • Spray the required number of puffs.

Avoid swallowing large amounts.

After use

  • Wipe the spray tube with a tissue
  • Push the spray tube back down after use
  • Do not insert objects into the nozzle if blocked

Always follow the instructions on the label.

How to store

  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children
  • Store below 25°C
  • Replace the cap after use
  • Do not use after the expiry date

Side effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Numbness or tingling in the throat
  • Stinging or burning sensation in the mouth

These are usually mild and settle quickly.

Stop using and seek medical help if you develop signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing.

When to seek medical advice

Speak to a healthcare professional if:

  • Symptoms last longer than 3 days
  • Pain worsens
  • You develop fever, rash, or difficulty swallowing
  • You experience unusual or severe side effects
