What is Valaciclovir?
Valaciclovir is a generic medication used to treat the herpes simplex virus (HSV). When you take Valaciclovir , your body cannot create new herpes cells, thus preventing the virus from spreading. Generally,Valaciclovir works by impeding the herpes virus from making new cells in your body as this can help prevent such re-infections in the future.
How to take Valaciclovir?
The effects of Valaciclovir in treating genital herpes are similar to those of Aciclovir when taken twice daily. Valaciclovir speeds up recovery and reduces the duration of pain in patients. This medication comes as a tablet and is taken by mouth. Valaciclovir is normally taken twice a day for 5 days and this is to be taken for the treatment of your first infective episode of herpes simplex virus (HSV).
For suppression treatment take one tablet once a day.
Side Effects of Valaciclovir
As with any medication, side effects may occur with some patients. Some of the most common side effects are Diarrhea; dizziness; headache; nausea; photosensitivity reaction; skin reactions; vomiting.
