What is Germoloids Ointment?

Germoloids Ointment is used to relieve the symptoms of internal and external piles (haemorrhoids) and itching around the back passage. It contains lidocaine hydrochloride 0.7% w/w and zinc oxide 6.6% w/w.

Lidocaine helps numb pain and itching, while zinc oxide helps soothe, protect, and support healing of irritated skin.

It can help with:

  • Pain and soreness from piles
  • Itching around the anus
  • Swelling and irritation
  • Discomfort from internal or external haemorrhoids

Who is Germoloids Ointment suitable for?

This product is available without a prescription. If you are unsure, speak to a pharmacist.

Germoloids Ointment is suitable for:

  • Adults
  • Children aged 12 years and over
  • Those with internal or external piles, or anal itching

This product should not be used by those who:

  • Are under 12 years of age, unless directed by a doctor
  • Are allergic to lidocaine, zinc oxide, or any of the other ingredients
  • Have severe or persistent symptoms which haven't responded to treatment previously

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use.

How to use Germoloids Ointment

Use exactly as directed on the label or as advised by your pharmacist.

Typical use:

  • Apply at least twice a day
  • Leave at least 3 to 4 hours between applications
  • Use after a bowel movement if needed
  • Do not use more than 4 times in 24 hours

For external piles:

  • Apply the ointment directly to the affected area

For internal piles:

  • Use the applicator provided
  • Gently insert the applicator into the anal opening
  • Squeeze a small amount of ointment into the rectum
  • Clean the applicator after use

If accidentally swallowed, seek medical advice straight away.

How to store Germoloids Ointment

  • Do not store above 25°C
  • Keep the ointment in the original packaging
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children
  • Do not use after the expiry date
