What is the Otex Express Combi Pack?
Otex Express is a medicated ear drop used to soften and break down ear wax, helping it come out naturally or making it easier for a healthcare professional to remove. It is not an antibiotic and does not treat ear infections. The active ingredient is urea hydrogen peroxide. This product can be used for:
- Blocked ears caused by ear wax
- Build-up of hard or impacted ear wax
- Reduced hearing due to wax
- Ear discomfort or pressure caused by wax
Who is Otex Express suitable for?
Otex Express is generally suitable for adults, children, and the elderly.
Do not use and seek advice first if:
- You have ear pain, discharge, bleeding, or suspected infection
- You have a perforated eardrum or have had ear surgery unless a clinician has advised it
- If you are unsure whether symptoms are due to wax, speak to a pharmacist.
How to use Otex Express
Use exactly as directed on the pack.
Typical use
- Tilt your head to one side
- Gently squeeze up to 5 drops into the affected ear
- Keep your head tilted for a few minutes so the drops stay in the ear
- Wipe away any excess liquid with a tissue
- Repeat in the other ear if needed
- Wash your hands after use
- Do not put cotton wool or anything else into the ear
Important
- Very hard wax may take longer than 3 to 4 days to clear
- While wax is softening, hearing may feel more muffled temporarily
- If your ear still feels fully blocked or hearing hasn’t improved after 3 to 4 days, seek medical advice — you may need professional wax removal
How to store Otex Express
- Store below 25°C
- Keep the bottle tightly closed and upright in the carton
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date
Some people may experience:
- Mild bubbling or fizzing in the ear after use
- Temporary worsening of symptoms while wax softens, such as irritation, mild pain, muffled hearing, dizziness, or ringing in the ear
- Seek medical advice if side effects are severe, do not settle, or you are worried at any point.
