What is Rennie Spearmint?
Rennie Spearmint is an antacid used to relieve heartburn, indigestion and acid-related stomach discomfort. It works by neutralising excess stomach acid.
Active ingredients per tablet:
- Calcium carbonate 680 mg
- Heavy magnesium carbonate 80 mg
Who is Rennie Spearmint suitable for?
Rennie Spearmint is for adults and children aged 12 years and over. It is not recommended for children under 12.
When purchasing, it’s important to tell your prescriber or pharmacist if you:
- Have kidney problems
- Have been told you have high calcium levels
- Have had kidney stones
- Need to avoid taking antacids or have been advised to limit calcium or magnesium
- Are taking other regular medicines, as antacids can affect absorption of some medicines
If your symptoms persist for more than 14 days, get medical advice to rule out another cause.
How to take Rennie Spearmint
Take Rennie Spearmint exactly as directed on the leaflet.
Typical dose for adults and children aged 12 years and over
- Take 2 tablets as a single dose, suck or chew
- Preferably take 1 hour after meals and before bedtime
- For heartburn, you can take an extra 2 tablets between these times if needed
- Do not take more than 10 tablets in 24 hours
If you forget to take a dose
Rennie is taken when needed. If symptoms return, take the next dose when required, staying within the daily maximum.
If you take more than you should
Taking too many may cause problems linked to high calcium or magnesium levels. If you take more than the recommended amount or feel unwell, seek medical advice.
How to store Rennie Spearmint
- Store below 25°C
- Keep in the original packaging and protect from moisture
- Keep out of reach of children
- Do not use after the expiry date on the pack
Side effects
Rennie is generally well tolerated when used as directed. If you get any signs of an allergic reaction such as rash, swelling, or breathing difficulty, stop taking it and seek urgent medical help.
