What is Voltarol 1.16% Gel?
Voltarol 1.16% Gel is a topical anti-inflammatory pain relief gel used to treat pain and swelling in muscles and joints. It contains diclofenac, which helps reduce inflammation and relieve pain.
It can be used to treat:
- Muscle pain
- Back pain
- Sprains and strains
- Joint pain (such as mild arthritis)
The gel is applied directly to the skin where the pain is, helping to relieve symptoms locally.
Active ingredient: Diclofenac diethylammonium 1.16%
Who is Voltarol suitable for?
Voltarol 1.16% Gel is suitable for:
- Adults and children aged 14 years and over
Do not use and seek advice first if you:
- Are allergic to diclofenac, aspirin, or other NSAIDs
- Are pregnant (especially in the last 3 months)
- Have asthma triggered by NSAIDs
Avoid applying to:
- Broken, infected, or irritated skin
- Eyes, mouth, or sensitive areas
How to use Voltarol Gel
Always use as directed in the leaflet or by your pharmacist.
Typical use:
- Apply a small amount (about a 2–4g dose) to the affected area
- Gently rub into the skin
- Use 3 to 4 times daily
Wash your hands after use (unless treating the hands).
Do not use for more than:
- 7 days for soft tissue injuries unless advised
- Longer use for joint pain should be reviewed by a healthcare professional
How to store Voltarol Gel
Store the gel:
- Below 25°C
- In the original packaging
- Away from heat and direct sunlight
- Out of the sight and reach of children
