Anusol Plus HC Ointment is a soothing treatment used for problems in and around the back passage, such as piles and itching. It contains hydrocortisone, which helps reduce inflammation, swelling, and irritation, while the other ingredients help protect and soothe the skin.
This product can be used for:
- Piles
- Soreness and swelling caused by inflammation
- Discomfort during bowel movements

Who can use Anusol Plus HC Ointment?
Anusol Plus HC Ointment is suitable for adults aged 18 years and over who have piles.
It is not recommended for children under 18 years old.
How to use Anusol Plus HC Ointment
Use the ointment exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Always read the patient information leaflet before use.
- Apply in the morning, at night, and after each bowel movement.
For external piles
- Apply a small amount of ointment gently to the sore or irritated area around the anus.
For internal piles
- Screw the nozzle onto the tube.
- Gently insert the nozzle into the back passage and squeeze the tube lightly to apply a small amount of ointment inside.
Wash your hands before and after applying the ointment.
Do not use it for longer than 7 days unless advised by a doctor.
Do not use it on broken or infected skin unless instructed by a healthcare professional.
Avoid using other steroid treatments in the same area unless you have been told it is safe to do so.
Do not share the ointment with anyone else.
How to store Anusol Plus HC Ointment
- Store below 25°C.
- Keep the tube tightly closed when not in use.
- Do not use after the expiry date shown on the packaging.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Like all medicines, Anusol Plus HC Ointment can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Common side effects may include:
