Fungal nail infections

Fungal nail infections can cause discolouration and brittleness of the nail; they arise from fungi such as dermatophytes, nondermatophyte molds and yeast, particularly of the candida variety.Although not very harmful such infections often take a longer duration to treat. Predominantly affecting toenails this condition often starts at the edge of the nail creating thickness and discoloration which slowly moves in towards the center of the nail, the brittleness that results from this can cause can cause pieces of the nail to fall off or even the entire nail can lift which can be very painful. This condition can affect  fingernails as well although this is not as common.fungal nail infections can be classified as mild, moderate or severe depending on the spread of infection and the severity of the symptoms experienced each type having its own treatment plan.

Curanail Amorolfine 5% nail lacquer

Such infections can be treated with a topical solution, curanails 5% amorolfine nail lacquer can be applied to fingernails and toenails as a normal lacquer would be applied to help treat the cause  of the infection until a new healthy nail has grown. This solution is specially designed to help kill the nail fungus and prevent spreading by penetrating the nail. This versatile option for treatment can be used under nail varnish, making it a great choice for those who wish to do so, allowing you to feel comfortable during the length of treatment which can last upto 6 month.thois product suitable for patients with mild fungal infection on 1 to 2 nails.

How to use curanail

Prior to application file down the infected nail, ensure you DO NOT file down healthy nails using the same nail file as this may result in a spread in the infection. Clean the area with a cotton swab before dipping the applicator into the solution and applying an even coat of the lacquer onto the infected nail. Allow to dry for around 3 minutes, once dried clean the reusable applicator with your cotton swab and responsibly dispose of the swab thereafter, ensure there is no remaining lacquer when reapplying the medication once weekly. Treatment for fingernails is around 6 months and 9-12 months for toenails, if the nail is still infected after this time consult your doctor or pharmacist for further advice on treatment. Every 3 months a progress check should be made of the infection to assess whether it has improved, worsened or stayed the same.Complete this consultation with the advice of your doctor or pharmacist, the treatment should be continued until a new healthy nail has grown and the infection has cleared.
