What is Eumovate Eczema and Dermatitis Cream?

Eumovate cream is a topical steroid containing the active ingredient clobetasone. Eumovate cream is used to treat skin affected with eczema, dermatitis or other flare-ups of the skin.

Who can use Eumovate?

Eumovate is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over suffering from flare-ups of the skin.

Symptoms of eczema and dermatitis are:

  • Itchiness
  • Dry skin
  • Inflammation
  • Cracked skin

You should not use Eumovate if you have ever had an allergic reaction to clobetasone cream or any other ingredients contained in Eumovate Cream.

Speak to your GP or pharmacist before using Eumovate Cream if the skin that needs treating is:

  • Infected with cold sores, herpes, chicken pox, impetigo or other skin infections
  • Broken, weeping or has an open wound
  • Affected with acne, psoriasis, seborrhoeic dermatitis or rosacea
  • Near a leg ulcer

How to use Eumovate

It is important to use this medication as advised by your GP or pharmacist, and always refer to the patient information leaflet.

For adults and children aged 12 and over - Apply a thin layer of cream once or twice daily, for up to 7 days.

Eumovate cream is a steroid cream, which can be very harsh on the skin if applied heavily. You should always apply only a thin layer of cream.

You should not use more than the recommended dose of Eumovate.

If symptoms still persist after 7 days, you should speak to a GP who can advise what to do next.

How to store Eumovate

  • Store below 25 degrees
  • Store out of direct sunlight
  • Do not use after the expiry date
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children

Eumovate can cause side effects, however not everyone will get them.

If you use Eumovate for longer than you should, or apply more cream than advised, you may experience:

  • Increased weight
  • Rounding of the face
  • Obesity
  • Skin thinning
  • Changes to your complexion
  • Increased body hair

In rare cases, Eumovate cream can cause a severe allergic reaction.

Signs of a severe allergic reaction are:

  • Redness or itching of the skin
  • Burning of the skin
  • Infection of the skin
  • Swelling
