What is Germolene Dual Action Antiseptic Cream?

Germolene Dual Action Antiseptic Cream is a general sale antiseptic cream used on minor skin injuries. It helps prevent infection and ease discomfort.

It contains:

  • Phenol which helps kill germs and provides a mild local anaesthetic effect to help numb pain
  • Chlorhexidine digluconate which is an antiseptic that helps prevent infection

It can be used for:

  • Minor cuts and grazes
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Blisters
  • Stings and insect bites
  • Spots
  • Chapped or rough skin

Who is it suitable for?

Suitable for:

  • Adults and children for minor skin injuries

Do not use if you are allergic to phenol, chlorhexidine digluconate, or any other ingredient in the cream.

How to use

  • Wash your hands before and after use.
  • Clean the affected area with warm water. Do not use soap.
  • Minor cuts and grazes: apply directly to the skin or onto a dressing.
  • Minor burns, scalds and blisters: apply more generously and massage in gently.
  • Replace the cap firmly after use.

Do not use on large, deep, heavily bleeding, or serious wounds, or severe burns. If the area worsens or does not improve, seek medical advice.

How to store

  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
  • Do not store above 25°C.
  • Store in the original carton.
  • Do not use after the expiry date on the carton or tube.

Side effects

Stop using and get urgent medical help if you notice signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as:

  • Wheezing or difficulty breathing
  • Swelling of the face, lips, or throat
  • Hives or severe rash
  • Signs of shock

Other possible side effects include:

  • Local irritation, rash, or other skin reactions where applied
  • Skin irritation with frequent use on the same area or use over large areas

Avoid contact with the eyes. If it gets in the eyes, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation, pain, or visual disturbance occurs.
