What is Waxsol Ear Drop Solution 10ml?

Waxsol Ear Drops are used to soften and help remove built-up earwax. They are suitable for people who feel their ears are blocked or clogged with wax and usually begin working within 1–2 nights.

Waxsol works by breaking down and dispersing hardened wax, allowing it to clear more easily and naturally from the ear canal.

It can be used for:

  • Blocked ears caused by earwax
  • Muffled or reduced hearing due to wax
  • A feeling of fullness or pressure in the ear
  • Ringing in the ear caused by wax build-up
  • Wax build-up from earbuds, hearing aids, or earplugs

Active ingredient: Docusate sodium 0.5% w/v – helps soften and break down earwax.

Who is it suitable for?

Suitable for:

  • Adults
  • Children aged 2 years and over

Do not use if you:

  • Have a perforated eardrum
  • Have an ear infection
  • Have severe ear pain or discharge
  • Have recently had ear surgery (unless advised)
  • Are allergic to docusate sodium or any ingredient

If unsure, speak to a pharmacist before using.

How to use

  • Warm the bottle in your hands for 1–2 minutes before use.
  • Lie down or tilt your head so the blocked ear faces upward.
  • Gently pull the outer ear to open the ear canal.
  • Place the recommended number of drops into the ear using the dropper.
  • Do not allow the dropper to touch the ear.
  • Keep your head tilted for a few minutes so the drops reach the wax.
  • You may lightly place a small piece of cotton wool at the ear opening.

Use once daily for 2 days, unless your healthcare professional advises otherwise.

If both ears are blocked, treat each ear in the same way.

Tips

  • Remove hearing aids or earplugs before use.
  • Wait 15–30 minutes before reinserting them.
  • Using at bedtime may help keep the drops in place longer.
  • If the ear remains blocked after treatment, professional irrigation or microsuction may be needed.

Missed dose

Use when you remember, then continue as directed. Do not double the amount.

How to store

  • Store below 25°C
  • Keep the bottle tightly closed
  • Keep out of the sight and reach of children
  • Do not use after the expiry date

Side effects

Most people use Waxsol without problems.

Possible side effects include:

  • Mild stinging, burning, or itching
  • Temporary fullness or muffled hearing
  • Increased discharge as wax loosens
  • Brief dizziness if drops are cold

Stop using and seek medical advice if you experience:

  • Severe pain
  • Sudden hearing loss
  • Heavy discharge
  • Severe dizziness or vertigo
  • Swelling or rash around the ear

If symptoms do not improve within 2–3 days, or you are concerned, speak to a pharmacist or doctor.
