Malarone and Atovaquone & Proguanil (Generic Malarone)
Malarone known generically as Atovaquone & Proguanil, is an effective treatment for preventing malaria available from our online Doctor Service. Malarone consists of two key ingredients, Atovaquone 250mg and Proguanil hydrochloride 100mg which both work to stop infection by the malaria parasite (Plasmodium falciparum). Malarone can also treat people already infected by the malaria parasite. A generic formulation Atovaquone & Proguanil which is chemically identical and works just as effectively is also available at a lower price.
How To Take Malarone
One tablet daily with food or a milky drink at about the same time each day.
Start taking the tablets 1-2 days before you enter the malaria area and continue until one week after you leave.
Side Effects of Malarone
Side effects with Malarone are less common and severe than other anti-malaria drugs.
Side effects may include: rashes, abdominal pain, headaches, anorexia, nausea, diarrhoea, dizziness, change in sleep pattern, coughing and mouth ulcers.
